On 9 February 2011, the Aarhus City Council passed a construction grant of 769 million Danish Kroner to the project Urban Mediaspace Aarhus. Thus, the project is an important step closer to commencing building.

The funds are among other things to be spent on establishing the building site, steel sheet pile driving and pole driving, construction of excavation frame, reopening of the river, and purchase of the automatic car parking facility.
